Is Jesus God?

The Bible does not record Jesus saying the precise words, “I am God.” However; does that mean that Jesus never proclaimed He was God?

Look with me at Jesus’ words in John 10, verse 30.  “I and my Father are one.” We need only to look at the Jews’ reaction to His statement to know Jesus was stating He was God. The Jews tried to stone Jesus for this very reason. The Jews understood that Jesus was claiming – Deity!

Let’s look at John 8:58. Jesus declares, “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” Jews who heard this statement responded by taking up stones to kill Jesus for blasphemy.

Now turn to the New Testament to the book of John. In John Chapter 1, verses 1 and 14 we find these words; “The Word was God” and the Word became flesh.”  This is a clear indication that Jesus is truly God in the flesh!

In John 20 and verse 28, Thomas the disciple declares concerning Jesus; “My Lord and My God.” Notice that Jesus does not correct Thomas.

So, Is Jesus God?

Because He Is!

“New”  Having been made or come into being only a short time ago; Fresh (definition from “The Free Dictionary.com“)

Today, September 3, 2017, begins a New Church year for Welcome Home. We have not yet experienced any of what this new year holds for us!

Change will be a part of this new church year. Youth and Children’s Pastor, John Triplett, has assumed his new full time role with Brushy Mountain Baptist Association – HOPE Ministries. We appreciate John and Sherrie’s years of dedication and service to our church. Chad and Jennifer Foster have assumed the role of Interim Youth Directors.

We have others who are also assuming new positions. We pray this will be a good experience in their Christian growth and maturity.

So, what part will you play in this new church year?

Blessings…Pastor Lyn
